The only way to be sure the specifications of the parts you’re using are correct is to have the proper tool to check them. The cam is one of your engine’s most vital organs, and must be right on to develop the horsepower you expect. This CAM CHECKER tool (#66838) from Proform® Performance Parts is the tool you need to do that.
The Proform® CAM CHECKER slides down into the lifter bore and sits on top of the camshaft for accurate measurement of the lobe lift and base circle runout. The 0-to-1.000-inch dial indicator has O-rings on each end to provide secure positioning and two followers are supplied, one for flat tappet or hydraulic cams and one for roller cams. The Proform® CAM CHECKER is designed for GM .842-inch diameter and Ford .875-inch diameter applications.
